There isn't much that irritates me more at a restaurant than asking for a table for an odd number of people and getting sat at a table made for one less person than you have, leaving the last person to sit down to be an add-on at one of the ends - as if they were an after thought.
A group of us went to dinner last night and when we asked for a table for seven we were given a table for six. As we squeezed in I looked around the restaurant to see many open tables nearby - any of which would have worked as an extension to our table – but I guess that would be too much to ask.
So, the next time we have seven; we'll ask for a table for nine.
